As more companies shift back to in-person interviews, jitters can rise right along with expectations. To understand how job seekers are feeling, the latest DLE Poll asked: How confident are you about participating in an in-person job interview?
Results are overwhelmingly positive: 70% of respondents feel very confident, while 30% feel somewhat confident–and no one reported feeling not at all confident.
Those who reported high confidence shared that experience makes all the difference:
- “I am now conducting in-person interviews and all my recent applications have been in person! I enjoy seeing someone again.”
- “I have interviewed extensively and often perform public speaking, so interviewing isn’t a pain point.”
Respondents who described themselves as somewhat confident said their nerves tend to surface around the unpredictable parts of interviewing:
- “Even though I prepare for every interview, there are moments when certain questions cause my confidence to degrade.”
- “I get anxious not knowing the people I’ll be meeting with.”
- “You never know what exactly they are looking for.”
Bottom line: Most candidates feel ready–and even eager–to meet employers face-to-face. That confidence is a powerful advantage when stepping into the room.
