The latest group of junior high school students emerged with newfound confidence and essential water safety skills following the fourth session of Safe Swim Berkshires, held in late April.
This community-based youth drowning prevention program–actively supported by Dulye & Co.–was established in 2024 in response to a tragic local youth drowning. It was co-founded by Dulye & Co. President Linda Dulye and Pittsfield Public Schools teacher Jennifer Roccabruna, with a mission to equip students with life-saving skills and confidence in the water to prevent further tragedies.
Through a partnership with the Berkshire Family YMCA, Safe Swim Berkshires provides free, one-on-one water survival training for at-risk youth ages 12-16. Participants receive week-long instruction in individual sessions led by experienced volunteer swim instructors. All gear, transportation, and meals are provided at no cost.
The program’s fifth session is scheduled for June.
