With a 15-year-career developing and executing an array of corporate communications strategies, Shay Studley Toland has supported organizations through mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, culture change, new leadership, crisis and scandal.
Before joining Dulye & Co., Shay was on the communications team that supported T-Mobile’s award-winning customer service culture. This team’s frontline communication was recently awarded a Silver Quill for IABC’s (International Association of Business Communicators) Pacific Plains region.
Prior to moving to the Seattle area, Shay was Corporate Communications Director for Tyco Healthcare (now Covidien), where she managed executive messaging, organizational communications and public relations for the diversified $10 billion medical device manufacturer. Shay developed and executed the communications activities related to Tyco Healthcare’s aggressive merger and acquisition strategy; crisis management; and was the executive writer for Healthcare’s President and CEO during a period of unprecedented change.
With an expertise in deploying communication strategies to engage employees, Shay has managed numerous ‘change management’ campaigns including print and on-line publications, two-way communication vehicles, manager training sessions, all-employee events and leadership messaging platforms.
Shay has also worked at Reebok within the Public Affairs function and was the first Employee Communications Manager at Shaw’s/Star Supermarkets, a major New England retail chain. She began her career as a reporter with The Boston Globe and other New-England newspapers.
She is a graduate of Northeastern University (BA) and has completed her Master’s in Communication Management coursework at Simmons College. Shay enjoys hiking, biking and exploring her beautiful new home state of Washington with her husband and three children. A true Bostonian at heart, she will always be a Red Sox fan.
