Mike McClary has nearly 20 years experience managing and implementing internal communications programs at leading FORTUNE 500 companies: Honeywell, Kmart Corporation and First Data Corporation.

At Honeywell, Mike implemented strategic communications programs to support the organization’s global project deployments in the areas of IT, finance, travel services and the transition of work to emerging markets. Mike also introduced interactive communications programs to facilitate open dialogue between senior leadership, managers and front-line employees.

Prior to his time with Honeywell, Mike was Manager of Human Resources Communications for Houston-based BMC Software, a leading provider of enterprise management software, where he helped establish the company’s internal and human resources communications functions. He designed the communications infrastructure to support two-way communications including executive-hosted Town

Hall meetings, online employee feedback tools and a monthly, Web-based CEO radio program – a predecessor to today’s podcasting medium.

In addition, Mike coached company executives in their communications effectiveness and implemented a measurement system to track the impact and results of communications efforts.

Before joining BMC, Mike managed internal, external and marketing communications for First Data Corp., the parent company of Western Union and TeleCheck. While at First Data, he managed the company’s intranet and directed the refresh of the corporate Web site. At the outset of his career Mike worked in Corporate Communications for Kmart Corp.

Mike has been an early adopter of technologies that can improve communications effectiveness and drive business results. His Web-based radio program for BMC Software was recognized as a best practice at Ragan Communications’ Corporate Communicators Conference.

He is an active member of the Phoenix Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators and an occasional columnist in the Arizona Republic. A native Detroiter, Mike writes about his hometown Tigers at www.DailyFungo.com and hosts a weekly fans podcast, The Detroit Tigers Podcast.

Mike earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. He lives with his wife, Sheryl, and their two children in Scottsdale, Arizona.
